Quick-Bites
Jerrell’s BETR BRGR
Famous in Soho, NYC, Jerrell’s BETR BRGR expanded into downtown Hoboken in 2023. Their burgers are ridiculously good and deceivingly meaty.
Vegan fast food deserves to be at the table. Think: “bacon” burgers, waffle fries, loaded fries, chili bowls.
Let your toughest decision today be what milkshake flavor to order.
Lisa’s Italian Deli
The odds of a vegan option in a traditional Italian-American Hoboken deli are slim but not zero!
Lisa’s Italian Deli on Park Ave comes through with their Pamela Vegan Sandwich served on a hero with arugula, sundried tomato, roasted red peppers, artichoke, and balsamic.
We tried it. We like it. But we do think it could be elevated with a sharp vegan cheese and/or a meat substitute. We’d also love to see a few more sandwich options to make the trip worthwhile.
Alfalfa
When it’s meeting after meeting, the coffee shakes are ever-present and there’s nothing in the fridge, we know that Alfalfa has our back.
They have filling salads and wraps and plenty of vegan substitutes. AND, while most cafes in Hoboken close at 5pm, Alfalfa is open until 8pm and has delicious Intelligentsia coffee! 🙌
They do, however, need to add a vegan doughnut option!
Our order: The Beyond Far East Wrap with alfalfa mix (kale, romaine, butter lettuce), Beyond plant-based "chicken" tenders, roasted broccoli, roasted beets, carrots, red cabbage, edamame, spicy sesame cashew dressing, sesame seeds sprinkle.
Bon Banh
Look, we’ve tried to make them at home, but the summer rolls from Bon Banh stay on top.
This spot, located on 5th & Washington, has quick, Vietnamese style dishes like noodles, banh mi, and dumplings.
Our order: Soy Tofu Summer Rolls with everything (rice noodles, cucumbers, carrot/ daikon slaw, lots of cilantro, jalapeño, sprouts) minus the lettuce, paired with soy vinaigrette and their passion fruit lemonade.
